A Black Hair Stick With Blue and White Porcelain

The shaft is a long black wooden curve, waisted twice along its length like a stroke of ink laid down in one movement, ending in a sharp point. Three of the four styles carry a pendant hung from the crest: a small plaque painted in the blue-and-white manner of Ming porcelain, bamboo canes and a perched bird sketched in cobalt on a pale ground. Each hangs from a dark bead and finishes in a black teardrop. The fourth style is the bare curve, nothing added.
