A Light Up Lantern Hair Pin, Hung Like the Real Thing

The lotus does not sit on top of the pin. It is set inside a round openwork frame and hung from the shaft the way a palace lantern hangs from its hook, with curling cloud motifs worked around the hoop. At the heart of the lotus is a translucent bead that lights from within. Two short chains drop a bead on either side, and below all of it falls a long silk tassel, longer than the ornament holding it up.
