Sword Hair Pins Drawn from the Chinese Jian

The sword hair pin is modelled on the jian, the straight double-edged sword of Chinese tradition, carried by scholars and wielded by immortals in wuxia tales. Worn through a coil of hair, it keeps the whole lineage: tapered blade, winged cross-guard, sculpted pommel. Alongside it hangs a fine beaded chain, an openwork filigree medallion and a full silk tassel that sways with every step, exactly as a bùyáo ornament was always meant to.

Twelve variations of one silhouette

The blade comes polished bright or warm and gilded, the grip from deep lacquer to coral. At 7.9 in it passes through a full coil rather than clipping its edge, holding thick hair that defeats most clips, while the tassel settles the shaft flush against the bun. Wear it to hanfu photoshoots, to Lunar New Year, or to a desk on a Tuesday.

Scales instead of silk: the Dragon Hair Pin is rough through the middle to grip and smooth at the tail to slide in.
